How to use scented candles? How to make scented candles burn more evenly and avoid "memory rings"? The key to making scented candles burn evenly and avoid "memory rings" (i.e. unmelted wax wall remaining on the edge of the candle) is to control the burning time and temperature. Here are some specific solutions:

I. Core skills to prevent "memory rings"

1. Burn long enough for the first time

- Key point: When lighting for the first time, the wax pool (melted wax liquid) must be allowed to expand to the entire surface of the candle (usually takes 2-3 hours).

- Principle: If the first burning time is insufficient, subsequent burning will be limited to the range of the first melting, forming a concave "memory ring".

2. Trim the length of the wax wick

- Before each lighting: cut the wax wick to 5-6mm (too long will cause too large flames and uneven wax consumption, too short will easily extinguish).

 - Tools: Use special wax wick cutters or nail clippers to prevent residual debris from falling into the wax pool.

3. Choose a suitable environment

- Avoid placing it in a ventilated place (such as a window or next to a fan). The wind will cause the flame to deviate, causing the wax on one side to melt too quickly.

II. Remedies for "memory rings" that have appeared

1. Tin foil wrapping method (suitable for container candles)

- Wrap the top of the candle with tin foil, leaving a small opening to reflect the heat back to the wax wall to help the edge wax melt (about 30 minutes).

2. Heat with a hot air gun/hair dryer

- Use a hot air gun to blow the remaining wax on the edge at a low temperature to make the wax liquid flat again (be careful to keep a distance and avoid overheating).

3. Dig out the edge wax to remedy

- Use a spoon to gently dig out the unmelted wax and place it around the wax core. It will melt together when it burns next time.

III. Other influencing factors and optimization suggestions

1. Choice of wax material

- Soybean wax and coconut wax are easier to burn evenly than paraffin wax. Beeswax has a high hardness and needs to be matched with soy wax (recommended ratio 1:1).

2. Container and diameter

- Wide-mouth containers (diameter > 7cm) are prone to memory rings. It is recommended to choose containers with a diameter of 5-7cm or a multi-core design (such as 2 wicks).

3. Avoid burning for too long

- Single burning should not exceed 4 hours, otherwise the wax pool will be too deep, causing the wick to tilt and burn unevenly.

IV. Common misunderstandings

- ❌ Blowing out the candle: It will cause the wick to shift and burn unevenly next time. Use a lid to cover the candle or immerse the wick in wax liquid and then straighten it.

- ❌ Ignore wick maintenance: The carbon residue produced by burning needs to be cleaned in time (wipe with a paper towel), otherwise it will affect the flame stability.

Through the above methods, your scented candles can always keep burning smoothly and maximize the use of every gram of wax and essential oil! If the problem persists, it may be that the wick size does not match. It is recommended to replace a thicker wick or try a wood chip wick (suitable for wide-mouth containers).
